The Westminster Society is a networking group within the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. It is not a commissioned ministry, mission, or committee of any court within the EPC, but hopes to help assist the EPC in continuing its vision for effective biblical leadership in the present and future of our church. The Society seeks to bless the EPC by fostering our unity through what we call “confessional churchmanship.”

The 39th General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) is scheduled to meet June 18-21, 2019 in Denver, Colorado at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. Among the many wonderful workshops and seminars planned for this year’s Assembly, the Westminster Society hopes to contribute in a meaningful way to the annual gathering of our church.

The 39th General Assembly will also see the publication of volume three of the Westminster Society Journal. The theme of this years Journal is “The Beauty of the Local Church” with twelve different articles submitted by a great variety of folks representing the EPC. We are pleased that this year’s journal includes reflections from a variety of perspectives including historical, systematical, practical theology, and biblical studies; from authors ranging from solo pastors to pastors of large churches, missionaries and seminary faculty. We hope this year’s journal will encourage helpful theological discussion and provide doxological reflection among the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

The Westminster Society will also be hosting several events throughout the week of General Assembly. On Tuesday June 18th we will be leading the Reformed Theology afternoon tract of the EPC Leadership Institute from 1-5pm. Presentations will feature the following topics:

  • “Christ the Head of the Church” – Rev. Dr. Scott Redd, Reformed Theological Seminary (Washington D.C.)
  • “The Church in the Old Testament” – Rev. Mike Glodo, Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando)
  • “Common Grace: A Tool for Common Ground in the Public Square” – Rev. Dr. Case Thorp, First Presbyterian Church (Orlando, FL)

Additionally, the Society is hosting three networking lunch opportunities each day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12:00-1:30 pm.

  • “Preparing for Worship” – Rev. Paul Bammel, Bethany Church (Havertown, PA)
  • “The Great Commission” – Rev. Dr. Stephen Woodworth, International Theological Education Network (EPC World Outreach)
